    **UPDATE**

My handset has returned after being sent back to 409shop for a warranty job. Im happy to report is it working perfectly and handled pretty well by 409shop so Kudos to them.

Thanks to Wrinkleaurthur for help trying to sort out my issue - unfortunately in vain as it was obviously a hardware issue.

im a happy camper now - even bought a water resistant external mic and waterproof cover for boating / fishing adventures.

Bought mine from evilbay and 'radiogearpro'. Not a bad shipping time.

EDIT:- Howard, that attachment above.... is that a screenshot of the program info that's downloaded onto your radio? - Have a look at channel 32 and 40. - the oDd extra digit has wandered in.

Or do I need glasses... - Guess where I'm up to with manually programming mine... :-)

    Hey Toppa,

Glad you got the hardware issues sorted with a minimum of fuss.

Seems 409shop are still doing the right thing and that's always good to know.

    Happy UHF'ing.

    Cheers,
    Iain

    Iain,

Sincere apologies for not thanking you for your offline assistance. It was very much appreciated. I actually got you and Wrinkle mixed up.

So, having stalked this thread with great interest and after a few failed attempts to buy a cheap used CB from fleabay, I have given in and ordered the following from 409shop:

    Wouxun KG-UVD1P UU 136-174/420-520Mhz
1 x Car Battery Eliminator for WOUXUN KG-UVD1
    1 x WOUXUN 1700mah Battery for WOUXUN
1 x USB interface cable for Feidaxin Kenwood
1 x Speaker Microphone FOR BAOFENG

    All for $157 AUD

I will update you with how quickly it arrives and whether I have any dramas programming it up. I am hoping it won't be too much of a problem, although having an IT degree doesn't always guarantee that the curse of fat fingers or brain fog will not strike....

Hopefully it will be here and sorted in time for the Easter weekend and my first AULRO trek!

I gave up and programmed my Baofeng the Hard Way...

You will not be dissapointed with this unit, I've had one for a while now and love it, feels like a real radio compared to the uvr5 that everyone is on about which let me tell ya feels like a CHEAP toy compared to the wouxun.

    ...that's because it is cheap...

On the other hand, for the sake of convenience.... you may as well just buy a JAYCAR UHF for around the same price. - No programming hassles, fully legal etc etc.
