I have an S2 and am really happy with it, cant see the point in paying more to get the same usefulness. a bigger screen is always better until you have to put it in your pocket.

I've had an S3 since they came out, bought a spare battery and charger straight away as I'm always on the thing. Guys I work with area always having flat batteries with their iPhones, even with heavy use i can usually last the day by turning off sync, gps etc. when not needed. If I can't, I've always got a spare battery in my pocket, ready to swap in. Can't do that with an iPhone! Also, they are always breaking their screens; I keep mine in a $6 case from evilBay and have never had a problem. Great phone, 10/10 would buy again.

I had an S3 and loved it.
I now have the S4 and it is just that one step better again.
Golden rule for heavy users, which I consider myself to be, download "Easy Battery Saver" and set it up right. I now get around 2 days from my S4 with quite heavy use.
Apple won't let people develop apps that control the battery and OS functions so that is why Apples always seem to have flat battery.

Another vote for Samsung. Got both phone and tablet and couldn't be happier with them. Open platforms much better than Apple's restrictions.

what is the point of having a smart phone and turning everything off. Sort of defeats the purpose.
My iPhone 4S works hard all day and easily beats my S3 on battery life if I have a heavyish day on that.
If I had to choose on battery life the iPhone every time.
S3 screen size is very nice though.

As a general rule, the samsung smart phones are typically better value for money.
You get expandable memory, bigger screen, better camera, faster processors and (usually) better battery life.
I have had both and my galaxy s4 blows everything else out of the water.
And my s4 also gets better reception than an iphone 5s, 5, 4s and galaxy s3 so they must have changed something about the antenna design with the s4.

Good luck, the 4S is a rubbish phone. I have owned one and the Samsung beats it hands down in every facet. You could get a S3 4G for the same money as the iPhone 4S.
