Can't be bothered investing time to solve tech problems like this. I'll just drive the beemer whenever I'm going on a long trip where music is essential.....![]()

I just read a piece on ABC online from their technology editor regarding 4G and 3G phones, pros and cons, and which phone in each category is a leader. Might be useful info for anyone pondering the topic....

Now, I am following this post with alacrity because I am hoping the thread will answer a question for me. But more on that soon.
About my take on it:
I am appreciative of technology, but prefer it to be used for good not evil. I am a little straight and narrow with my technology choices per se....If I want to know the time, I look at my watch. I expect my phone to go 'ring ring' not play some rappers 16 bit offering. I like my music to be crisp yet have depth and minimal distortion. I don't need to know what my mate had for dinner or who he's with this exact minute. If I want to chat, I'll ring. But that's just me
On the other hand and back to the question I hope answered via this thread....which phone should I buy my cheese and kisses for Christmas, i5 or S3?
My research has not clearly articulated a winner but I am drawn to the S3 precisely because it has less proprietry stuff. The only apple gizmo in our house is my sons iPod. It just seems I could make the S3 talk or connect with most other stuff in the house including my MP3 collection.
Please drive this thread to a suitable conclusion, leaving me a simple choice to make.

Btw... I actually threw my S3 in the dump....
I have an IPhone 3GS & am about to upgrade to an IPhone 5.
I have a Galaxy SII for work, and frankly hate it. The iPhone is not perfect, and I hate iTunes with a passion. However, I find the iPhone just.... Works. I've had to hard reset it maybe 3 times in 3+ years. Every other handheld device I've owned has needed a hard reset every week or 2.
The Galaxy's keyboard is annoying, & it's auto suggestion / correction feature drives me insane!!! It makes it ridiculously inefficient, which is a bad thing when we're supposed to use them for all our paperwork, email etc.
The Galaxy came with a ton of it's supplier's software on it. More irritations albeit not Samsung's fault. I still haven't found out how to make the home screen the one on the left instead of the one on the right.
Most of the IPhone has been intuitive. A BIG plus in these days of highly limited owner's manuals.
I would be prepared to try a Windows based device again, but I don't think I'd bother with android At least not in the immediately forseeable future.
Ralph - did you read the ABC tech editor's take on the best 4G and 3G phones? My last post has the link. The analysis is quite encompassing and might help you answer your own question.
