As far as the fit is concerned I am wondering (as it was mentioned by someone else) whether it will fit in and allow the screen to fully open.

Someone mentioned this is problematic though I THINK they have a D2. Having said that, is the D1 and D2 different in respect of that portion of the dash ?

Passing through briefly and will try to answer the questions I have seen pop up.

The unit comes with Synergic (?) GPS software. The one I had previously had iGO 8 on it. Both work well and both have their nuances.

As far as mounting and the screen opening fully, you can't push the cradle fully back since this causes the lip on the dashboard to interfere with the 'arms' that make up part of the display angle adjustment. If you set the cradle about 5mm proud of the dash, everything works fine.

Unit only has a single camera input.

As mentioned previously, OZI works fine. The unit can be thought of as an 'unlocked' WinCE based GPS with removable SD card. I have iGO and OZI installed on the same SD card. To switch between them I just go into the settings and change where the GPS expects to find its software. Then reboot the GPS. All up takes about 45 seconds to do the config change plus however long the software takes to boot. I don't recommend doing the change on the move though since it requires accurate fingers.

    So

    1) Where to buy these units? From the website? I presume you order the maps somehow at the same time? (How much extra are the AU maps?)

    2) Any other equipment worth getting from the same mob. I have a reversing camera which should do the job, so don't really need one of those.

    3) I see that they sell as SD TV tuner for use with it, bit can;t be sure whether an HD tuner (for the extra stations more so than the quality) from elsewhere would eb compatible. Perhaps not?

The unit I have has two micro-SD slots. One for the GPS software load and the other for music / audio books / video etc. It plays MP3 but I don't know about WMA.

Purchased direct from the manufacturers website with free international shipping.

The software and maps are about 50 AUD but the device is an unlocked WinCE device running an ARM processor from memory, so you can get most things to run. If you do not have experience in doing this then I strongly suggest you just pay the 50 AUD and be done with it. The maps are current and once you have functioning software, updating the maps isn't too hard.

    That would be very unethical.

Meanwhile, on a completely unrelated subject I'll send you a PM

I'm interested in getting one of these too, was just about to buy one, BUT, I can't find out if it can play unprotected MP4, (h.263) via the SD card. Most of my movies are in iTunes in that format. And if so what size SD card can it take?

    Has anyone tried it?

    Cheers
    Marc

I note that the radio is not digital but is RDS.
Built-In RDS Radio Receiver Function Yes
IS this supported in Australia? Basically the functionality I want (she wants) is that the radio will show the song and artist that is playing.

    Anyone know?
