Using a genuine fog light switch for IPF driving lights

Just a quick one to see if anyone know if its possible to hook up my IPF driving lights to an extra fog light switch? The driving lights are installed and wired up to the IPF switch that comes with them but I wanted it with my fog light switches in the blank spot, is this possible?

Everything is possible, but knowing the quality of the OEM switches I would want to reduce the current load across the contacts.

Use a relay to power the IPF lamps directly from the battery and the OEM switch only supplying the control circuit.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

There are 2 types. Don't get the one for the rear fog as the switch is on momentarly and turns on a timer, the one for the front fogs is an on/off switch and the one to use. I have the same setup with the switch going via a relay to the lights.

    Sure is possible...

I have the front spotties, rock lights and roof lights all wired via factory switches...

The only non factory ones in the D2 dash are a winch controller switch and an ACE control module toggle (mounted in a factory switch blank!).

Can be done, if you don't have the harness to plug in to splice into the d/light harness you'll need to cut the surround off from around the pins on the back so you can solder to them.

So if the lights are already wired in I just need to plug in the switch right? (Well solder it in) do I still need the relay if the lights are already installed?

Ok so you all probably think I'm a numpty by now lol, but I need help again. I have a switch, the driving lights have a relay and I know that the white is to the relay the red is to the high beams and the black is to the ground, what I now need to know is how I connect that to the rear wiper switch. Again I know that the red/brown is the switch illumination, the orange/black is the power and the black is ground.
    Can anyone help?

So the red from the high beam is the relay switching wire, the black should be the earth for the switching (power the red and touch the blackto earth and you should hear it click). The white and the fourth terminal will be the switched circuit. Power into one and out to the lights from the other. This will be switched on when the high beams supply power to the relay.

The switch needs to be put in line in the switching circuit. The earth side is the easiest.Just run the earth from the relay to inside and it'll end up at earth after we work out the switch.

The switch: Is it only a 4 pin switch? If so then you'll have your illumination, illumination earth, switched source in and out. The R/n is your illumination, just connect from another illumination source back there, the black should be an earth. This may have a dual purpose and be both an earth for the illumination and switching (if the device that is switche dis indeed earth switched). The O/b is to/from the
BCU according to RAVE and is probably power in as said (any black with trace is an earth, which is switched by an ECU). Foregoing the fact that it's a wiper switch. Just look at it as a switch. Your earth from the relay goes in and when pushed the circuit is completed and the other side is earthed. This will switch the relay on and power passes across the other two relay terminals and lights work. Do you have a multimeter? If not probably the best $15- you could spend. Again if so you should be able to work out the switched terminals of the switch and the earth for the illumination.

If not, and if you can wait a day or two I can get a spare switch to check and let you know or if you like I'll modify a switch to suit with the wiring soldered on and a plug setup for easy disconnection. Let me know if I can help with that. Otherwise watch this space. I'd check mine but it's at the panel beaters at the moment.
