I don't believe that you can hook up a go pro to power on and start recording with the car. Also power/charge it could be an issue. Another thing is once full you would have to delete the footage. While with a dash cam I believe that it will record over itself until you tell it to save a particular scene.

It is possible to do it with a go pro just in the long run would be a hassle.

    dash cam -

I have one of these: Mini Size GS608 HD 1080P. You can look them up on techmoan on youtube.

They save the files as a Traffic stream [TS] file. Should be no prob for PC users. Uses a micro SD card so can store up to 32gb. Works well, good clear images and it's small in size and not easy to notice either. Mine doesn't have the GPS function.

They are quite reasonably priced. I want to get a second one to point out the back as I want to record the crazies coming up behind and get them as they roar past!

Ive had a Blackvue Dr400G for a few years, i would not think of getting anything else, very reliable and never given a hint of trouble even in 50+c interior temps - it just works . however they are obsolete now but I would not hesitate i upgrading to the newer model of same brand. Cops have used footage from it in 2 instances with positive results.

obviously the video straight from the sd card is better than what you see on youtube as its fairly compressed.

I generally don't sit in the right even when theres no law against it, You might be happy sitting behind slower traffic but I'm not, i was actually passing a few slower cars, I'm not pulling in and out for every car when theres a long line of them , especially when Im towing. its a wide angle view so the cars look further away than they really are. Cops reviewd prior footage and found no issue with my driving despite me doing 113kmh .

in SA (im not sure about other states), its law to keep to the left if the speed limit is 80km/h or over, unless overtaking. its not obvious from the vid your overtaking and i did forget about the wide angle lens, so my apologies.

These seem awfully cheap - about $30-40 on eBay.

    in NSW:

On roads of two or more lanes where the speed limit is greater than 80km/h, motorists must not drive in the right-hand lane unless they are overtaking, turning right, avoiding an obstacle, driving in congested traffic or are otherwise instructed by road signs.

When the speed limit is 90km/h or more on multi-lane roads, you must not drive in the right-hand lane unless you are overtaking

The wide angle makes it look like a long way but he was clearly overtaking and at the appropriate speed limit, so anyone doing the right thing shouldnt get too upset, unless your driving a hilux. If I was following you in my normal car I wouldn't have worried about backing off a shade for the few seconds for you to get past. It's pretty subjective what "overtaking" actually is, as in how far away are you considered to be doing it. Although I suspect you will have a reference if there is one Eevo! Which I would love to see, not having a dig.
I get the feeling other 4wds make a point of getting past the Land Rover to prove their superior ability, that's what I see here a lot anyway.
