    Android clinometer and speedo

Was looking for a GPS speedo for my Iveco as the speedo is really hard to read when I'm driving (ok call me blind), and found a neat Android speedo called Ulysse Speedometer , I found a un-needed Samsung tablet which I attached to the mirror with velcro.

I cant use the mirror as I have a rear body blanking out the back window.

you can configure the speedo to bring up another ap, by pushing the green GPS button I have it run Inclinometer Pro

its a bloody ripper, most LR owners might go past it in the Ap store because its got a picture of a Jeep on it, but you can chose from a huge list of 4x4's including Defender and Discovery. Bonus it also has a built in speedo, very nice ap , you can add an outline of your own car if its not listed but somehow the Defer just looks fine to me.

you can adjust the angles and have it set off a warning if it gets close to your bail out angle.

I tried heaps both free and paid aps and these are the best of the bunch so far. Even with the device mounted high up near the roof and infront of that metal mesh the GPS cant see much sky but picks up enough satellites to work almost instantly.

Its faulty, send it back! It should display an Iveco not a Defender 110!

We used to call those indicators "wankometers" when they came out on Mitsu Pajero, I don't think my attitude has changed, its not like you need an artificial horizon, bank angle or climb rate when you have wheels on the ground.

agreed, the novelty will wear off, but is interesting to see what the actual percentage of a slope is, most hills I cant walk up you would swear are close to 45 degrees but turn out to be closer to 30 degrees .

Also handy for the passenger who swears the truck is about to tip over, you can show her its only 15 degrees (but she still wants to get out and walk )

Primarilary - I concur, yes its a **** meter , but I do like the picture of the Defender on it,

I've found the HUD option on the the speedo app to be useful at times.

Can you zero the readings when its mounted? I would imagine that it would need the same relationship of 3 planes of the tablet/screen to the centreline, vertical and transverse line of the vehicle. Or does it have an externally mounted sensor?

the app ( last time I installed it) has 2 zero settings

absolute and relative, absolute resets everything back to zero and a relative resets it temporarily so you can check the angle of one part to the next.

I was using it for helping out leveling beams and pictures but had it installed for other reasons.
