    Any know if this uhf is good :S

    I recently found this in a box from a deceased estate my brother bought, it seems to be a uhf of some but it just seems quite large, its made by phillips and its got fm 900 written on it any info would be awesome

    I have quute a few of these Radios on various bands, there awesome for what they are, yes old technology but still very bullet proof, easy to get, i generally buy then from Ham Fests for about 10-20 bucks each bringvthen home fix them and reprogram, they came in 3 variants FM 91, 92 and 900 on the plate besr the heat sink canvyou tell ne the band code it will be something like W1, E or A

    you might be able to sell it to an LROCV member, it can be programmed with the frequency the club uses. 152.575

    Ah ok cool so I can use it then cause I currently dont have one which is awesome save me buying one if it works. Ill have to have a look at vin plate when I go to work on monday so is it as easy as plug in an use or dose it require programing? ?

    No you can't use it legally, you need a license, If you join the LROCV you can apply through the committe to be licenced under the ACMA,
    they will give you a call sign and strict terms of use (only used on club trips) Its not a CB
    there is no other way you can legally use it. accordingly Any other frequency that you use will need to be licensed.

    It needs to be programmed by a radio tech.

    I believe the Victorian 4WDC also uses the same system.

    Unless you program it for CB and power it down to 5w providing it is the correct bandwidth radio then you dont need a licence
