OMG, just whacked a fusion head unit into my D2. I cant believe how easy it was, it just plugged straight in, literally a 10 minute job.
nothing on a land rover is supposed to be this easy
Hi
lights failed in old Headunit overtime..
so after research on the forum etc re ISO plugs and adaptors...
Bought a Fusion CA ML650BT Headunit
looks exactly like what I want
Mechless - Dust / Vibration
Blue tooth - phone and USB for IPOD and IPhone
Green backlight - even better!
playing around to fit today
thought I was being smart and it would fit straight in without extra connectors as it has 2 ISO female connectors in unit to allow for ISO male plugs to push in..
pull old unit out and there is not ISO plugs into the old Eurovox 5780R but a harness
but there are 2 ISO Plugs further back that plug into the radio Harness, a mustard one and a grey one .. not brave enough to plug into the Fusion unit without understanding what they are/ contain ?
Fusion details in here

Any Guidance would be appreciated
regards
Nobby

Just a thanks to Nobby for posting this, about the FUSION 650BT.
After reading his post and some quick investigation, I went out and grabbed one from Super Cheap. They are on special for 2 weeks, down to $98 from $150.
I have just fitted one to my PUMA Defender.
What a great bit of kit for almost no money!! I am amazed at how good it is, given the price.
Now I have about 60 albums on a 8Gb SD card, so no more CDs for me. And, it BlueTooths to my Samsung S4 seamlessly for music + handsfree.
Cheers
David
Edit: Once I'd worked out how to get the old radio out, it was about 5 minutes to fit the new one. Defender plugs are identical to the FUSION plugs, so a complete no-brainer to fit.
good to hear something nice about fusion gear.
i wish my sony mechless came with SD. just BT, USB and aux
Does it not have a good reputation?
A most dangerous thread
After Spudboy's heads up I decided to wander down to Super Cheap as well to get one for the Pulsar.
Ended up spending an extra $20 and getting the JVC KD-X310BT which was also on special at $118, mainly because I liked the ability for 2 bluetooth devices to connect simultaneously and it has a remote.
Literally only took 5 minutes to pull 2 panels off and undo 4 screws to remove the old stereo, another 5 to install the new stereo, plug in the ISO connectors, antenna and route the mic to above the steering wheel.
Switch on and nothing. A closer look revealed that there was no negative wire on the Nissan loom and a bit of googling confirmed that Nissan commonly grounds to the head unit, rather than through the loom.
Thankfully the Nissan Aerpro adaptor has bullet connectors on the +ve and -ve wires so I just crimped a female bullet connector and ring to a short piece of wire and connected directly to the the metal frame. Working beautifully now and sounds 200% better compared to the standard Nissan offering.
Cheers
Steve
get yourself one of these (I have one and they work a treat). you wont even know you have a USB plugged in

I bought one of the Aldi mechless/ bt/sd/usb head units yesterday to try out but the loom supplied is not a full iso loom just bare wires.
Took it back this morning and going to get myself a Fusion CA ML650BT for not much more.
Are you guys still happy with them ? Not after a fully sik bro thumping stereo just a mechless unit with usb mp3 playback.

I have a Fusion CA-IP500 in my P38A. The iPod docks inside and is controlled by the knobs on the front of the Fusion.
