Stuck my mic on the top of the steering column cover in front of the instrument cluster.

Much easier to get the wires there than up the A pillar.

    Cheers

sticks out top of A pillar trim

we upgraded to an Alpine last year,, bloody complicated play lists! play by folder etc,
so complicated I ended up sucking individual songs off the cds into one huge folder,(usb stick)
and 6gb equals around 1000 songs.
trouble is, set to random, the car breaks down (battery disconnection ensues) before a song repeats,
we may never hear them all!

    Thanks!

32GB USB + 32GB SD + iPhone media = Stupid amount of music for in car use.

I have a 2TB USB drive with about 1.2TB of music to choose from. There's more stuff on this drive than I will ever listen to in a lifetime ... Then there's my CD collection ...

Hopefully I'll get the new head unit installed in a week or so.

    Ok, 8 weeks, but who's counting ?

Easy install. Mic on top of steering column. Definitely better than the Visteon unit.

Streaming from my iPad sitting in the garage 20ft away from the disco listening to Ian Moss. Hands free phone works well.

    For $100 it's a bargain.

Now, to fill up the iPhone, iPad, an SD card and a USB stick, and I'm set.

Time to take the CD case out of the glovebox.

The only annoyance i have is the folder's are numbered so you only know who it is when it starts playing.

I assembled my albums (58) onto a 4G Sd card. I named the folders "Artist - Album". When I put the SD card in, the albums are in the order they were copied to the SD card, so I copied the SD card the laptop, wiped the SD, then copied them back ... Now they're in alphabetical order ... Yes, the folders are numbered on the Fusion, but since the order is A to Z, if you set the folder name to display on the Fusion, when the first track starts it shows the Artists name as it starts to scroll ... Oh, that's Crowded House ... I want Stevie Ray .... click, click, click a bunch of times .... That's Queen .... click, click, click .... you get the idea ?? Not perfect, but certainly better. I'm going to change the 4GB to an 8GB for around 120 Albums permanently onboard

My annoyance is the Album/Track/Artist as displayed scrolls across the display. Not used to having scrolling text on the centre console. A bit distracting but I'll get used to it quick enough i guess.

For the USB stick Im just going to load mixed tracks, so I don't see the naming convention being an issue. I'd usually just set it to run set to random ... I think I'll have to folderize the mixed tracks due to the limit of files in the root folder .... Folder 1-Blues, 2-Rock, 3-Easy etc ... Random within a Folder, or All Folders Random ... should work nicley.
