I've got a DIY slide on camper ready for electronics fit out and I'm still unsure as to what I need for it. Well I know what it needs, its just the most cost effective way to go about it I'm still trying to get a good handle on.
I can rewire HK monaro in my sleep, but I have never in all my years, played with 'battery management' systems.
The picture below show the setup I have.
Cab side:
A-ARB 35lt fridge with auto cut out
B-Starter battery dedicated to starting or manually switched for winch assist.
C-Aux battery to run the fridge and winch
D- BEP 4 pos switch
1 - Need some kind of battery management system here to run triple batteries. I had my heart set on the Autron system however they are out of production right now.
Camper side:
E-Connected to the car with a Anderson plug
F-110lt fridge with auto cutout
G-3rd battery
H-200w solar panel, may go bigger
2- Do I need a unit here to manage discharge between aux batteries? I'm not sure what would work. It needs to receive charge from the vehicle batteries when the engine is running, then ensure the camper battery is isolated when camping. Maybe a simple HD relay would be best.
3-I definitely need a something here to manage the power input from the solar panels. At minimum the camper battery needs to be topped up. If need I would probably just run a temporary line across the the truck batteries if they needed topping up.
There are lights, compressors and assorted other 12v consumers to be added to the system however this will be very straight forward.
Can anyone recomend some specific products to the voids I need to fill in this system?
Many thanks,
Fubar
Get one of Traxide's isolators. They are the perfect isolator for multi battery systems and so easily to install.
He goes by the name of drivesafe here.
