    Waeco CFX65DZ error on DC

Hi all. I have a Waeco CFX65DZ in the back of my D3, fed via a traxide USI160 system out of an Optima D34. I have the Waeco wireless monitor.

I'm leaving the fridge on during the day, and when I go out at lunch time to check it with a multimeter, I find about 12.3v into the fridge, this confirmed by the monitor. However at the end of the day, the fridge is still powered, the green light on, but it's up at around 11-12c inside with the monitor alarm screaming. It doesn't go out on low battery, as if it did the fridge would be turned off with the LED flashing once every 5 seconds. The fridge cutout is set on MED, which cuts out at 11.4v. There is usually around 11.8V when I start the car and the monitor shows 14.7v at the fridge, so I assume that the alternator is recharging the Optima.

The thing that has me confused is that there is sufficient voltage to keep the fridge powered, but it is not cooling. Even after driving for 30 minutes, and seeing the input voltage drop, the temp is still at 11 or so. However when I start up the next morning it seems to work fine, and cools quickly, being at 3c by the time I get to work in about 30 minutes.

Cabling is big enough, all connections are secure. It was bought in March/April 2013, so is still under warranty.

    Any assistance appreciated.
    Regards, Will

I cant comment on power setup but i know that when i was having battery issues my waeco would turn off completely when power was low and not just not cool down properly.

Is the air obstructed around the fridge's air inlet and outlets and does the car get too hot inside?

3" one side, 1.5" front, 12-15" other side of air gap. Yes it's been hot in the car. Today is a stable temperature of about 20c, fridge worked fine on the way to work, compressor turned off at 2c, reading 12.6v into the fridge. Will see what the readings are at middle and end of day.

I didn't have this kind of problem with my D2, but had a 105AH Fullriver and a solar panel on the roof. Thinking I need a panel on the roof of the D3...

Maybe its time to have the fridge checked under warranty for proper operation as it could be low on gas or its fan not running properly.

Just for interests sake, today it was 18c ambient. With 12.3v measured at the fridge, it was not maintaining temperature, although the light indicated that it was still running. It's also indicating a full volt higher on the monitor than it's actually receiving... I have dropped it off to a Waeco repairer, hopefully Anaconda can come through with a copy of my receipt so that I can get it fixed under warranty.

It sounds like the poly fuse.

Wanko made a bunch of fridges (CF40AC) back around 2004-5 that had the wrong fuse in them and nobody knew what the problem was, UNTIL the warranty ran out, then everybody was an expert. They had put the wrong poly fuse in but they refused to fix them under warranty.

I know of a few people including myself that have these fridges and have been conned, ripped off or what ever you call it by wanko.

I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.

Good luck with your warranty claim.

So this is going to be interesting. Called the repairer who tells me that there is nothing wrong with the fridge, works perfectly for 4 days, cycling on and off and maintaining 0c. He reckons that there's something wrong with the battery or the wiring. I reckon he's barking up the wrong tree. He'll load test the system when I pick the fridge up and pay the $44 inspection fee Gotta love being told there's nothing wrong but still charged. Sure isn't the way I do business I can tell you.
