Yes, should be fine for charging duties for most phones, but don't try to keep a tablet charged with the screen on.

I have a dedicated 2amp plug for the 10.1" Android tablet, but our standard USBs work well enough for the phones (Note 1, Note 2, Note 3).

That's OK I can always charge it from the cig lighter socket with a USB adapter.

I've compared a whole heap of mechless units and the fusion appears to be the best option at the moment. I just can't figure out if it has a high pass filter or not. I suppose as its not mentioned it probably doesn't. I really like the SD card inclusion as its not going to fall out / get loosened in off-road situations.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Was hoping for a high pass filter so I wasn;t sending bass to the 4" speakers as I'll be using a powered sub.

Wasn't planning on using an amp, for a couple of sets of smallish speakers.

I'm looking at this one.. looks the business.... anything it's missing that's important?

    http://www.pioneer.com.au/au/product...75BT/page.html

    Has Bluetooth
    Android compatible
Hands-free phone usage (as if anyone can hear you in a Defender - perhaps when parked! )

    What do you reckon?

And according to the specs manual its only 97mm deep ! [ame]http://www.pioneer-latin.com/downloads/mvh-x375bt%20%20%20%20%20mvh-x175ui%20%20operating%20manual%20ing%20-%20esp%20-%20por.pdf[/ame]

This would be a close 2nd I think
    http://www.blaupunkt.com/en/nc/produ...s/single/7591/
It does appear to lack a high-pass filter. Given my proposed set up, below, is this a deal breaker?

As far as the system goes I'm looking at:
    front - 4" component speakers
rear - 4" 2-way speakers (basically just for fill, and because I have them))
    sub - a slimline/compact powered sub

    Sound reasonable?

    pioneer make good head units.
i prefer sony personally but pioneer are on par.

whats brand speakers you going for?
i dont know if 4inch are the correct size for your car but splits/components up the front and 3 way in the rear is good.

    whats brand sub?
how are you powering the sub?

personally, i think skip the sub and powering your speakers with an amp is a better usage of money.

although the speakers are small, the peak power is about the 200w mark. but your head unit is only putting out 55w peak.

which leads to clipping and crappy audio.
