Finally got the car yesterday, audio is pretty good, better than expected, though i do see room for improvement, i definitely think i hear a sub woofer working. EDIT: Actually after further analisis, im not sure there is a subwoofer in my car... ive been trying some audio tests and i can hear frequencies as low as 28hz, but the seem to be comming from the base speakers... algo when i put my ear to where the sub is supposed to be (in the trunk on driver side), i cant hear a thing...
I sneaked a picture of the AHU/Amp, have no idea what it is, doesnt look like the older hardware ive seen before... i cant seem to find any seat removal guies...

This is the sub on Jag XF premium systems:
Attachment 127589
So the sub has 8db more of sensitivity and everything else almost the same. Im mostly worried about linear excursion, id be looking to get a used one on ebay and attempt the retrofit. If it works this should translate to a pretty good improvement of the stock sub...
Hi Mvelasco
I have a Discovery Sport on order... so Im following your upgrades with interest.
I found the Topix pdfs on the UK Discosport forum.
Of relevance for you I found pdfs for the Infotainment details Attachment 127593,
Subwoofer removal Attachment 127592
and Trim removal in the loadspace area Attachment 127591.
Hi Guthrie,
Awesome info, i also have an account on that forum but didnt look hard enough i guess.
After reading about the infotainment on the PDFs im a bit heartbroken. Comparing the Amp pictures on the PDF with the picture i took, it appears i have the E167298 Audio Amplifier Module, which is specified for the 190-250W system, and since i cant seem to hear a sub, im thinking ive got the 190w :S
Im still going ahead with the mods proposed by Cambo. I do feel that the bass speakers are the weakest point of the whole setup, so im thinking the swap will make a substantial improvement. Ill be waiting on the sub tho as im not sure if it would be plug and play.
I recently bought a full set of used speakers from the jaguar xf 09-11 (8X23-18808-AB / C2Z3438) on ebay:
Attachment 127610
I wont be using them all but this whole package cost the same as buying 4 used bass speakers individually. I have also ordered the meridian midranges LR033290 from lrdirect.
Hopefully in the future, some sort of retrofit option will appear so i can push those speakers a bit more and add a sub...
EDIT:
Ive realized the following:
Opt 1: The E167298 amp is a 190w-250w amp, but the 250W is branded as INCONTROL TOUCH MERIDIAN® SOUND, 380W.
Opt 2: The E167299 amp is a 250w amp, and is branded as INCONTROL TOUCH PRO MERIDIAN® DIGITAL SOUND, 380W.
The difference between these two being the DIGITAL keyword, as option 2 uses the MOST bus. If im correct, Cambo mentioned that there arent that many discos built using the E167299?
So it's the 10-speaker system then? I guess it will be possible to change the amp and add the subwoofer, if that's the case. But you will need a means of editing the CCF to do so...
Won't be plug & play, you will need the CCF changed to enable the sub.
Not it is not MOST, it's the ethernet system. Only the very first of the L550's with 825W Meridian Surround had MOST...
You will be able to add the sub if it's missing, but it will need the different amplifier and a CCF change.
It doesnt look too hard to get the door panels off - see here Attachment 128351
This might be interesting for some people, I was able to get the speed and redlight cameras added to the nav system in the IAM2.1.

Was not exactly straight forward, the IAM2.1 is a bit finicky as to which files it will accept, and I had to draw all new icons in order for them to be the same size as the factory icons, and to be legible.
But, there is now Australia-wide coverage of speed cameras, red light cameras, combined speed & red light cameras, variable speed zones (e.g. school zones) and the nice part is there is a different icon for each, the icon shows the speed limit that the camera is checking for, 110, 100, 90, 80, 70, 60, 50, 40
This is straight upload for 2014MY onward vehicles, and the software in the IAM can be updated in the earlier cars to enable this as well.
So...
2014MY D4 is a direct upload, the 2012-2013MY D4 needs a software update.
L320 Range Rover Sport from 2012-2013MY needs an update, the L494 RRS from 2014MY accepts it as is.
And so on...
