Dual Battery for a Pajero
So, my brother needs/wants a dual battery system in his Pajero for probably what will be one trip to Tassie. He's been quoted ~$1800 from ARB, but this would probably be for a full BMS and battery (with battery tray, installation, etc). I can understand how the quote adds up, but was curious about other options, particularly given the little amount of times he'll actually need it. I told him to get a couple of written quotes from auto-electricians. Would a Traxide unit be a possible solution?

Yes, give Tim at Traxide a ring - he hopefully would have a solution that would be easier/simpler/less expensive. Tel No in link below.

I use a Traxide kit and it is a well sorted system.
I'd go this way if he's going keep the Paj.
If only after a basic kit maybe..SC80-EB Kit | TRAXIDE - RV | Traxide - RV
An alterative I've used in the past and fitted to the sons soft roader...
Dual Battery Isolator - 12V 100A microprocessor-controlled battery isolator - REDARC
You still need to buy the wiring for this where it's supplied above.
Add a battery tray unless going for a stand alone battery box.
Also you'll need wiring from the 2nd battery to an outlet or 3.
On the sons we have the isolator feeding a merit plug in the rear.
He can plug the fridge direct and it only runs when the car is running.
He also has a AGM battery in a box we plug in line and it just performs as second battery would.
The advantage is he can carry the battery and fridge to any location and set up for the day.
