I finally changed over from ADSL to NBN. The modem I have was a Telstra Gateway so is compatible with the NBN. My electronic technical knowledge is woeful so I had a computer tech come and sort out the landline, PC etc. All works okay but am not happy with the landline now having to be hooked up to the modem to work. When we go out for the day standard practice is to turn the PC and modem off at the wall. This now means that the phone doesn't work so incoming calls do not register.
I haven't detected any improvement in speed etc. I know from the Speed Test that I have gone from 5 to 26 but it is not noticeable. There are only two nodes serving the whole town.
I did tell Telstra when they called that they fib. That they do a deal to get you on board but then do not honour it. All previous promises of no charge ancillaries are now supposed to be back on the free list. We'll see........
They are sending me a new upgraded modem which supposedly has a sim card in it so that if the NBN goes out I will still have access to the internet. Supplying it free as apparently I am on some special customer list. No idea what this means......
