    What's the time Mr. Wolf?

My radio insists on displaying the time, one hour ahead. As there is no time zone an hour ahead of AEST, I'm assuming it's not GPS/www altering it. Any ideas, team?

If there is an option for network or similar adjustment, tick it then un-tick it.

At the moment there is no daylight saving time anywhere in the country.
I even tried setting the time an hour before real time, but it then jumped forward two hours.

I'm not at all sure that's a reasonable assumption. If the head unit is self selecting a time, and the minutes are in sync, then it must be getting its reference from somewhere. GPS/WWW, or from some third source such as perhaps the car itself? I can't recall from the brief times I drove it, but does it have mapping? If so, is the location accurate? Did you ever establish what make/model the unit is?

Yes it does have mapping, it places the car on the map, exactly where it is. It doesn't align with any Australian or New Zealand time zone.
If it's all the double ewes controlling the time, who's paying the data/connection bill?
No, I couldn't establish the brand of the head unit.
I'll try loanrangie's suggestion tomorrow, in the daylight.

    Assuming it’s android based

it's easy to check to see if your settings are correct.

    1. Open up your Settings app.

    2. Scroll down and tap on System.

    3. Tap on Date & time.

    4. Tap to toggle on/off the Use network-provided time setting.

There are GPS time references in the northern hemisphere which are 1 hr ahead of AEST...e.g ."Magadan" in the eastern provinces of Russia. check where the time/date settings are referenced. (I once had a "Mio" in-car GPS which I set to "Khabarovsk" time. It was the only way I could stop the device defaulting to Australian Daylight Savings Time!
