    LR In Car DVD problems

    G'day All,

Have had the D2 for a week and a bit now and one of the buying points was it had an in car DVD player, Land Rover though think it is Eurovox. Any disc I put in shows up Loading for a little while and then says "Invalid Disc". I took it back to the yard I bought it from and they had a fiddle....no result....thought it maybe need a clean. So went and bought a disk cleaner this morning, popped it in....again "Invalid Disc" , so wouldnt even play the disc. Tried some other dvd's to no avail. Kids are giving me grief over it, anyone have a clue as to what the problem maybe before I take it to the likes of Strathfields or something...thanks,

    Regards

    Stevo

Is this the unit that sits under the passanger's seat and accessed from the back seat floor area?

Just checked the manual for mine, no error codes or fault tree in the booklet.

Are you using a bought Region 4 DVD? If not I'd try that first in stread of a recorded one.

Stevo will it play a normal not burnt or recorded by you audio disc ok?
Does it recognize that it is a audio cd or does it still say not recognized?
if it plays the audio cd ok then maybe the laser is dirty.
If still comes up saying cant recognize disc then I would say laser.
try putting in the disc so u know excatly where any of the writing is and when it comes up and says cant recognise eject it to see if it is still in the same spot. What I am trying to see is if the disc is actually spinning. If its not spinning then the spindle motor is crap and will need replacing, this too was common.
Let me know what u find

If it is the spindle motor I have had luck before in removing them and shooting a bit of lanolin or light oil in the motor and spinning it by hand.
    This revives some of them.

I discovered this too when I bought the V8. Didn't even turn the radio on, as I was busy listening for important noises. Bought the car, got it home, turned the radio on and nothing. It was a completely different unit, the plugs didn't even match up. Oh well, fitted my own. Felt like a DH briefly tho.
