I use nRoute with City Navigator and a cheap gps mouse which is also used with OziExplorer etc.
A program called GpsGate makes it all work.
My setup notes include this:
GpsGate provides an interface between an NMEA output GPS and nRoute.
Why do we need GpsGate?
Although data is unlocked on MapSource, nRoute locks the data when the GPS connects.
This is the workaround:
Install GpsGate which creates virtual COM ports and converts NMEA to Garmin emulation and lots more. Allows you to use several programmes with the same GPS for example.
You set your GPS to output to NMEA, have the GPSGate wizard find the GPS and create a virtual COM port that emulates Garmin.
Set nRoute to this virtual COM port and you are away - nothing locked.
If you have city navigator running Ok and your ONLY problem is not having an unlocked GPS unit then you can use GpsGate. This will allow you to use any gps unit that puts out NMEA data.
If you want more "info" on GpsGate, send me a pm![]()
