    EMS Engine monitor

I am seriously considering fitting an EMS-2 to my disco. I want to mount the instrument in a pod of some description on the dashboard, to the right of the cluster. But I have not been able to find any reasonable looking pods that are designed to mount the aircraft style casing of the EMS-2.

I do not particulary want to get the EMS-1 and mount it on the centre console because that is where the GPS lives.

On a side note, what are peoples thoughts on which parameters to measure ? I an currently leaning toward manifold pressure and gearbox temperature. MAP because combined with EGT that is my main reason for the EMS. and gearbox temp vis engine temp due to the eng oil having a cooler. But I don't know if gearbox temp is really that critical on a manual ?

I have the EMS 1 and measure Transfer temp, EGTs, oil pressure, coolent temp and coolent level, works really well, it's already warned of low coolent level and high EGTs so I'm pleased with it so far.

I originally had the EMS 2, but I changed because of the mounting issue and the EMS1 is a lot easier to read when driving.

How so, and where did you mount the EMS2 ?

How does this compare with the nanocom, I mean doesn't it give the same readings and it can diagonose faults as well?

The Nanocom is good for faults but you can't monitor while driving, especially if you have the early model D2.

Hi Mike, I posted pics once before of the EMS2 in the ashtray but I can't find them, I'll see if I can dig them out.

I mounted the EMS1 in front of the low range/CDL lever, seems to be the best spot for it.
