Foxtel actually do something similar to this in apartment buildings where there's a single cable going from the riser into the apartment - they hook up the antenna feed & Foxtel feed into a combiner, then have a splitter in the apartment going to the STB & TV. I assume it has some sort of filter to ensure a higher quality signal but I reckon in your situation what you've suggested seems quite sound.

Yep, telecommunications tech but TV ain't my field.

I might drop all the cables down into the entry hall cupboard and do the connections there rather than in the roof space. I've been thinking of also cabling in a Commander system I have out in the garage.

Someone on here works for Laceys TV but I can't remember who it is.

You could but signal will degrade plus on top of that, with only one output transmitting what is coming from the set top box, ummm, you will have the same thing on every TV.....

Yep, that's why I may run a MATV distribution amp. Re single programme, that's what we have now via a UHF link. We are now empty nesters so we don't need multiple channels - I don't watch much TV anyway.

That was Landyman who used to work for laceys but that was at least 2 years ago, he now drives a t****a so doesnt frequent here anymore.

Wont you need to put a receiver at each tv with a valid foxtel card ?
Otherwise you'll need to run AV cables to each set from the the foxtel box.

I have done a bit in this area as a telecom tech. Provided you overcome the losses via boosters I see no problem. I currently run one vhf/uhf antenna pointed in between Sydney and Woolongong and get great vhf and digital from both sites but I have had to install agood splitter amp system. Jim

I would - if I wanted each TV to be able to show different programmes.

My thoughts are to re-transmit the cable TV programme from the Aerial Out socket and into the antenna cable system thus distributing it to every TV in the house. It will be the same programme being fed to every TV.

As only one of us watches TV, every TV in the house can display the same (off-cable) programme if needs be (each TV can still show different off-air programmes).
