    UHF Mountings?

I have a small Uniden UHF Radio (I think it's a UH400SX) but can find a decent & out-of-the-way type place to mount it in my D2. If anybody has a simular UHF in their D1 or D2 can you take a photo of where you mounted it so I get a few idea's.

    Thanks
    Stephen

That's an "all in one" yeah ? (as opposed to a remote head unit)

I've usually seen those mounted -

    * Under the dash but the speaker is then pointing into the footwell s a remote speaker would be advisable.

    * In an overhead console (the type that runs the width of the car above the windscreen, usually).
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I have a D2 and mine is mounted (screwed in) under the drinks holder, just behind the drink holders stop. Drink holders still useable, but will obstruct the cb if in use. I don't use the drink holders as I have the US drink holders installed on the transmission console.

I think I know what you mean but with the length of mine I'm not sure it's going to fit there. Is it possible for you to take a photo so I know what you mean for sure.

I had thought about the roof console & on top of the dash (with a dash mat to make it look neat) but I'm not convinced on either of these yet which is why I am asking for ideas more than anything else. And yes, it is the all in one type, I got it for nothing from a sponsor to go in my Rallycar but I have a new Rallycar & we're just going to carry a handheld type in my co-drivers bag.

I may be a pesimist but don't trust a handheld UHF, particularly in a ralley situation.

In the Rallycar itself it will only be used on the way into the service park (so the guys know what i've broken this time). Most of the time the competative stages are too far away from the service park to get anyone & CAMS uses their own frequency's so no stage teams will hear. The other thing is with a hand held I can use it for someone to guide me from outside the car when off roading (& towing tree's off of the road before events).

    Hi Stephen,

I have a remote head myself but a radio your size I have seen mounted on the transmission tunnel (passenger side) with screen facing driver. Also mounted in a dash pod but these are expensive for what they are ($250+).

I personally would mount it on the roof console on the large flat area in front of where the factory sunroof switches would be. If that is an option I can take a photo of my UHF and VHF I have mounted up there for you to get an idea.
