firefox update seems to corrupt Vista
My Vista Basic yesterday decided to stop working with a message saying something like "Microsoft Host has stopped working press yes to find fix." Explorer would not open and the computer would not shut down.
The only changes I have made recently was to download an update for Firefox.
So I did a system recovery to an earlier date and now it is working fine. I also deleted Firefox.
Annoying as this is the first time in 30 years of using Windows I have ever had a system failure,or virus despite what the Apple fanatics say.

The purpose of the post is to warn Vista users of the possibility of the 3rd party program updates to affect the operating system.
I have no argument or problem with Vista except the constant questions are annoying.
It appears to be a Mozilla problem rather than a Vista problem, and I have had problems before with Firefox updates eg dropping out all grammar from posts.

I've had an ongoing problem with Win7, internet temp file folder gets huge - like Terabyte huge - or so it claims - not a Terabyte HDD.
For some reason the system doesn't dump the temp files, maybe because I don't reboot often, and don't close browsers until forced to.
When the happens the system grinds to a treacly halt, and then I have to remember to run the clean up HDD program and get rid of it all, and everything is fine again for a while.

About a week ago I updated Firefox to 3.6.7 (at their instigation)....that led to some funny business with the comp turning itself back on after I had turned it off!
Two days after that they notified of a further upgrade to 3.6.8.....downloaded and installed it, no further problems and all smooth again. I'm running Vista Home Premium.
Seemed a bit of a coincidence to experience problems and then get another update almost straight away.
Never had issues previously though.
