Yeah, sorry - should be more specific! OK, assuming you are on Windows Vista:
Right click My Computer and select Manage
In the left collumn click on Event Viewer, Windows Logs, then System.
In the right column (Actions) select Filter Current Log
In the popup box select the Critical check boxe then Click on OK
In the viewer click on the Date/Time collumn and then look for errors on the day of the last bsod. There sould be something there, but I can't remember what the source is likely to be..... possibly Windows Error Log. Not sure. You are looking for sommething whith a STOP code which will be 0X000000?? probably be a 2h or a 1d in the last 2 positions.
For windows XP you would go through Control Panel, Admin Tools, Event Viewer, the rest is much the same.
Most Page file errors are caused by bad drivers, the Stop code will point us in the right direction. Post any other information you find relating to the crash. There is usually an entry entitled "The previous shutdown was unexpected" - there might be some usefull info in there too.
Good luck
Matt
sorry Matt(and Inc,),

Thats very odd, I was sure a system stop error was a critical event.
Try going back to the logs but in the right hand collumn choose Find, and then enter Page_fault_in_non_paged_area. Searching for this should bring up the event for the BSOD.
You could also try searching for the phrase "previous shutdown"
If it happens again, take not that near the top of the screen it will say "STOP : 0X00?????? - if you get that stop code written down it will point directly at the problem for us.
Cheers
ok, heres another odd one,,
no "find" option--

You will have to expand windows logs and select system in the left hand pane before the find option appears.

Sorry - my mistake
You searched for page_fault_in_non_paged_area as instructed.
You should have searched for Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area.
My bad!
it delivers the same result,,,
I even used a capitol P
I will save all this info Matt for the next BSOD,,
(I do have auto restart switched off)
BSODs are fairly rare on this machine,, I suppose thats why it interested me,,![]()
