Are the Indians giving you the irrits ?

At about 6Pm , I received a phone call telling me
"Jello I yam from microsoft and want to tell you you have a problem with your computer."
me-What is your ABN? him-IBM what is this IBM.
    Me-This is a scam -**** OFF.
This is the THIRD call I have received.
Maybe next time I will tell him the only ones who fall for this are old ladies like his mum.

Make sure you are on the do not call register.

    https://www.donotcall.gov.au/

Then if they call ask for their name, compnany, and contact telephone number - last time they rang me they provided the details. Next, lodge a complaint with do not call.

Once I've got the details I ask them if they;ve heard of the do not call register. You get some interesting replies, varying from a hasty retreat to claims that small business is exempt (that from a repeat offender, according to the do not call people). I've never heard back from anyone who I've challenged...

Once going on the do not call register we only get about one cold call per month (at most).

I had a call from my bank the other day, they wanted answers to their normal security questions, not account numbers, mother maiden name ,that sort of thing,, I asked them to prove to me they were from my financial institution,,
not interested at all in doing that---
    so I hung up.
I have no doubt that they actually were from the bank, but sometimes you just gotta rattle their cage,,

Wife answered the phone to the same line yesterday...

3 other people I know in our town have had the same call...

Wife handed the phone to me and I let him go a while...
"your windows pc is uploading virus to us.." blah blah...
Need to buy software, blah blah...
Can purchase on phone, just need your CC.... etc etc...

When I said.. "How is this possible? I run a Mac.."
I got abused in Indian and the phone went dead!

I ask them to provide me with the 14 digit pin that was supplied to their office so that I can verify who they are before I pass out personal details.

This usually results in a lot of Ummm & Ahhhh. I tell them to call back when they can verify their identity.

BTW - must get around to issuing the bank their PIN.
