    Android apps

I am new at this apps business and having just got a new Telstra phone I find it runs on them. I do not have a data download set up on my acct and I am wondering if I can download and install some stand alone apps vie internet. Jim

If you have a WiFi connection you can download direct from the Android market to the phone.

Otherwise some off the apps can be downloaded via a PC and installed via a USB connection.

Read your manual for a few hints.

Ive heard of an android app that reverses the tether so that you can use your home internet over the USB to the phone, its allegedly a 2 parter and you'll need to download the phone half to the phone somehow else, wifi at maccas is your friend.

    Android apps

To change the situation. I have an old android phone with a broken case. It has windows mobile plus a lot of stand alone apps on it. Can I transfer some of these to my new android phone? Jim

yes, theres an app share function built in.

some will share the download addy and then force the other phone to download the app the first time you hit its icon. Other apps will transfer the lot via wifi or bluetooth.

Does your old phone run Android or Windows Mobile operating system?
If it is Windows Mobile based, then you cannot transfer the apps but you may find Android versions of the apps on the Android market.

He mentioned his 'desire' for the HD so I assume he has already gone down that route

I have a standard Desire that I have rooted.

I don't actually tether it as such, but I am able to use it as a WiFi hotspot, so I can use it as an internet connection, via WiFi.
