The version I heard was, a friend would help you move, but a true friend would help you move a body.

I was on facebook a few weeks ago, when I got a message from a friend saying he was in trouble, that he was in the Phillipines and had been robbed. I rang him at home to tell him of his secret travels and he knew nothing and hadn't been on fb for weeks. A few mutual friends also got similar messages from the same user profile saying the same thing. If I hadn't known better they would probably have asked me to send money, but I cut the conversation short. I like using fb as I can communicate with lots of racing people easily, but I don't go in for all the Farmville etc crap.

I use it all of the time, love it. Such a great way to communicate, share things, keep up to date with friends, keep in contact with people who you don't see often etc. Its a great supplement to face to face where that is not always easy or possible. You choose what info you want to put out there.
    Cheers

Why would someone want to steal your identity Mick?

Steal your vehicles, I could understand.

Your comment above CAG - can you please tell me what that means?
    Thanks.
If you register your email with facebook, then no one else can use it. You don't have to use it and the occasional email you may receive from them can be ignored.

    Beats me?
I've offered to swap lives with many people.
They get the 101's. They get the Mercs.
Sadly (for me) they all say no when I point out I get their wives and family.
(Some think about it for a bit though.)

facebook got back to me pretty quick. They deleted the account.
I didn't tell them I had managed to hack it.

I've set up a new one just to make the email address tot able to be used again for a facebook account. This means I have lost the other fellows friends.
    They were American anyway.

Its interesting that he was able to start it without access to your email account also. Dont they usually send a confirmation email to activate the accounts on these types of things?

Yes. And I shouldn't have been able to log in without a password.
We were both logged in at the same time. Maybe I activated it when it suddenly logged me in. I remained logged into the account all afternoon observing. When I felt sure he had logged out, I changed the password and birthdate on him.

i hadn't entered that birthdate and I didn't know who the two friends were but they went to schools in America.

Ahh, that's the thing. Generally I have no interest in keeping up to date nor do I want to share. I don't reply to emails from my family (nor many others). In fact, the family no longer emails me as they know they won't get a reply. They email my wife.

I prefer the telephone for communications.
