    it is a good idea?

I need to replace my old PC which I use for image PP and also I would like to get a small TV for my study.
It is a good idea to get a iMac with a 27"monitor instead of a PC and a TV?
It is possible to use the Apple 27" monitor as a TV?
The monitor reputation for using in PP is excellent and I would like to have it for my photoshop work but I do not know how it will perfor as a TV.

    Your inputs are appreciated.

You can run any monitor as a TV,,
lots of different digital TV PCi cards to choose from,,
the hard bit is getting access to a decent aeriel from where the PC is

I hate the usb tv tuners. They end up not working properly and voice and picture can get out of sync. I've tried 3 or 4. Maybe they are better on a mac? The monitor only has a mini display port so any tv tuner will have to run through the computer.

I wouldn't have though you could get a PCI or PCIe card in an iMac?

USB tuners aren't too bad these days, but when I was looking for OSX options, the only one apparently worth getting are the Elgato jobs Elgato EyeTV Hybrid - Apple Store (Australia) but hideously more expensive than decent PC USB tuners.

I'm unsure if the iMac monitors can accept an external video source, to allow a better quality set-top box to be used.

Perhaps if $ permit, you might be best off with an iMac and a separate cheap TV. That way you can work whilst watching the Lions flog the Magpies

I guess that you are correct, I just visited a site and a good Elgato TV tuner can cost $360.00
For that money I can get a 32"TV and watch the proper football and not the one that is playing using the hands.

Some one will reply soon that it is not football, it is soccer and boring

If they made the goals a metre higher and a couple wider, my attention span would be compatible

Most modern LCD TV's come equiped with an RGB PC monitor input anyway, just get a shiny new LCD TV and you have both in one unit.
Some even come with builtin DVD drives.

The wide screen unit we have in our "media room" is an LG. Have a look at them in Radio Rentals or Retravision.
