    I have used it to get a bought DVD into a format to run on an android tablet so it must be able to. Have not come across one it couldn't read but that may be because I didn't try an encrypted one .

    The Mac Dev community has always been very much Open Source.

    They do it for the challenge or to help the community - and often have other software they do sell...

    Mac the Ripper or Handbrake.... for sure...

    Both get a hiding at my place - Handbrake especially turning files into other formats
