Depending on what brand/model, hunt the net and find a free download of the workshop manual / field service repair manual etc for it or one closely related. You'll need a set of jeweller's screwdrivers and a sheet of butcher's paper divided into a (say) 5x4 matrix with marking pen. You put the little screws in the separate squares.. can write in the squares to remind you where the screws go.
There are several wholesalers on ebay who sell screens...
Alternatively, depending on your budget, there are a number of second hand places selling reasonably modern laptops for a couple of hundred dollars... this is often cheaper than the cost of a new screen by itself...
