Thread: Microsoft account

I recently purchased a new pc with W8 installed. When I was setting up this computer I tried to open a Microsoft account. However my email address is rejected and it says I cannot use it as it is reserved for a number of things, and to use another email address. I don't have another one and I don't want another one. Can I get round this problem using my existing email address. My address is +++@bigpond.net.au

I had exactly the same issue - my normal e-mail is also pigpond. Don't know why MS seems to reject these. But there's no problem with opening another e-mail account just or this type of purpose. I use a gmail account - have never used it for anything other than setting up things such as MS accounts etc.

Other than that, experience with W8 has been good so far. I bought one of the Sony Vaio tablets and it is brilliant for running process simulator and maintenance management package that we use at work, plus all the normal functions. Takes up way less space than any of my previous laptops and super fast to "boot up" with the solid state drive.
