    e-mail deletion

    win 8
    Thunderbird 26

I tend to get quite a few emails(over 50 a day depending on how you guys behave)
Whats the best way to manage them?
do they have to load on my PC?
Do I have to keep them on my ISP and my PC?
I highlight and delete but they re-generate???
You'd think I'd have this worked out by now

I usually delete and purge using the ISP's webmail application before I download to my PC.

pop3 mail should delete unless you have the "keep a copy on the server" check box ticked. imap usually won't delete unless you purge.

Mike, will that box be on my ISP webmail page or in Thunderbird?

Under your account settings in thunderbird.. Or you may be configured to use imap.. If so, change to pop3, and select delete on server will solve your problems.

There is a known issue with thunderbird where sometimes it will redownload all your email if it gets an error or problem with your local mail store (where thunderbird stores your email on your PC)
