Thread: Made the mistake of "upgrading" iPad2 to iOS8

I put io8.1 tablet is fairly much the same( except safari is very very slow,,opera seems fine and I haven't set up Crome to see) one major pita was that I had to run the restore about 10 times before it actually finished...

It is a typical apple release where older machines have problems.

Mine kept rebooting on me if I tried the music app. I have to do a hard reboot to bring it back.

I found an article on fixing problems with iOS 8.

I tried one, deleting the Icloud drive (settings, iCloud)

That has made the delayed typing better.

Trouble is Apple will not acknowledge problems and may or may not resolve them. Depends on how many new iPads they wanto force people to buy.

You wanta have a look at the error diagnostics for safari........ Quite a long list of crashes and stuff

So I downloaded iOS 8 onto my iPad mini, but what I did is basically reset the whole thing first. It was running out of space and all your photos are wither on the cloud on backed up onto the computer. So I wiped it, then downloaded iOS 8 via iTunes on my PC. Apparently the iOS update takes like 5GB on your PC but only needs maybe ~1GB to run the software.

My wife has 8.1 on her Mini and full size iPad with none of the issues I have. Turning off iCloud as mentioned above seems to have fixed the keyboard delay issue.

However, it hasn't fixed the very long delay in responding to swipes, etc. I use Chrome and if I wish to close a tab and press the X, nothing happens, so I press again. Then the iPad wakes up, closes the first tab in response to the first press - then it closes the next tab in response to the second press. Gaaaaahhhh.

I shudder reading this sort of stuff.
Why ?

Apple won't let the iPad downgrade to an earlier iOS. All the instructions I've found so far rely on Apple permitting it and that authorisation has now ended.
