    Advice needed

In my desktop, the cooling fan on the graphics card has failed - replacement cards have heatsinks and will not fit in the space used. The computer shuts down when the card overtemps.

My computer does have integrated graphics which could be used but are disabled.

Could someone please give me a step by step tute on the following ..

    1. how to enable the integrated graphics ?
(presently cannot be selected in the bios setup although it is there)

    2. how to disable the radeon graphics card ?

    3. can the failed card then be removed from the machine without disrupting the startup?

    Advice/Assistance will be appreciated

how about take the radeon out
connect monitor to the integrated graphics
turn on and see if it boots.

if it doesnt, put the radeon back in and report back here

Most computer shops will have replacement fans. Jaycar may have them, too. For you, that would be Radio Shack in Marius St.

thanks Ron, the type of fan is just not obtainable locally as they usually only come with the card - there is an example on Ebay from honkers for about $5 - I may get one eventually but I just needed the machine operable atm -

Hi Pedro, ATI Radeon 4350 (from memory - I'll check the # if important)

The standard integ graphics seems to be all we need for web stuff like email and this site, and the usual (non game) ie ol' fogie home computer uses that it gets.
