I'm just in the process of Installing Windows 10 on my laptop. Just to see what it's like.............
So far, install time is quite quick.
For the moment though, I'll keep my Linux system on this PC i think.....

Well Windows 10 looks and feels nice, however it's just 7/8xx in a new skin,
which is obviously the idea, after having complaints about app tiles etc in previous versions. 10 has gone back to the traditional desktop and hidden the app tiles. They now reside in the 'new' start menu. You can remove them and/or turn them off from there.
I've not encountered any strange bugs or weirdness in this 'evaluation' copy.
I would suggest though, if anyone out there is going to install it, once in the initial setup menu don't use the "Express Setting" button, take the extra 2minutes and go through the options one by one. This new version wants to connect almost every single app it has to the Internet, and tell companies other than Microsoft about all your habits and location etc etc.
Having said that, you also need to get into settings (once installed) and click some other check boxes that enable location awareness and usage habits etc. Whether that's a bug, or Microsoft just making sure you're on the ball, who knows........
Once installed, it found all my devices no worries and seemed to have all the necessary drivers and what not.
Anyway, some (maybe) useful info for anyone out there who may want to try out the new gear..................

In relation to those commenting about their suspicions as to why it's free,
the 'word' is that the system will operate like an Android phone, as in, you have the basic software you need to run the device(your PC), and third party apps (tiles in this case) are available for free if you need something else.
Microsoft will continue to do patch updates etc for security purposes, much like Apple and Google do on their phones/pads/tablets etc.
So they will provide the basic operating system, and look after that side of things, but the rest will be up to us.

Just an update on Windows 10.
I have just lost control of my Start menu button!
Restart didn't help, and it shows as running in task manager.
So I guess this could be the first glitch in this "Evaluation Copy" of Windows 10.
I can however, do a right click of the start menu icon, and it does come up with the start menu options and some program menus. Sooooooooo hmmmmm.
    Anyway, that's all........
