Ron. I typed a joke in the "post reply" box. I then clicked "preview post"
In the preview all was good. I then submitted the post.

This is when it appeared with exclamation marks and apostrophe's all being question marks(?).

I then clicked the edit button to fix this. Before I fixed the problem, I copied and pasted it to word for evidence, because once I fixed it and saved the changes, the fault is gone and I can therefore not show anyone.

In my OP, the last two paragraphs are a copy and paste of the problem, to be able to show the problem.

    Does this make sense?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Dave, an internet search showed up a few people on a few different forums having the same issue. It seems it may be related to the encoding used by the browser.

I do post on the forum at work from time to time and there the Firefox browser is set to 'Unicode'. However here at home (currently in Firefox) it is set to 'Western'.

Out of curiosity could you check yours please via the toolbar: View - Text Encoding.
    Cheers, Dale

Where do I find this "toolbar"?

Above the address bar do a right click and then click on 'Menu Bar'.

That will give you the Menu Toolbar across the top of the browser window.

Unicode, Wesern, makes no difference for me.

Yeah I know. No trouble with either setting on different computers I use. Am really grasping at straws.

However I know how Dave feels because the incorrect symbols are a pain to read.

    Mine is set on "Western".

Regardless of the settings it only happens in the joke thread.
If the setting was wrong, would it not affect all threads/posts.

I even went to the jokes thread to see if it the setting could be different there, but same as here. Set on "Western"

Rather weird that it is only on that thread.

My only thought is if that you are going to post in that thread again that you type it in Notepad and then copy and paste and see what happens.
