I use it occasionally for voice calls instead of using messenger, its peer to peer instead of going thru another server so audio quality is usually pretty good.

I use skype for the audio and MSN for the video feed. The audio is much clearer on the calls I make on skype than on the other just mute the MSN and watch the jumpy image.

We've had installed for around 12 months now, but the rest of the family is reluctant to use it - they all use MSN. So while it we've had it for a long time, we've really only used it a couple of times.
One of those times was on my PDA wireless in the house to my wife in the study ... an interesting experiment, but not really something that we would do often.

    I'll talk to you later.

I've got to say the best part of skype now is the really good video.

I think I com under the internectually, technologically challenged,
not really the changes are too hard to keep up with,
I used to talk to a friend in canada with one of the msn or similar programs, it was ok, then a capped phone plan for o/s phone calls,
well i use the phone now. ( at $1.98 for as long as we talk, its fine and cheap for me.)

    Now to my question
skype is that only skype to skype or can you use it to talk to say a landline if the other party hasn;t got it. ( if that makes sense)

If you have a skype account you can call a land line. Skype also let's you set up numbers in other countries so people can call you at a "local" rate if they don't have a computer.

I've used skype for some years PC to PC but of late have found Windows Live Messenger to be more reliable and with better voice and video quality.
