Hi all!
And many many thanks! I am able to get online now again, thanks to all your tips and hints. No idea what it was in the end but now it's working, for the time being anyway.
The next thing I'll have to do is recovering all the data on the crashed disc, all mailaddresses and weblinks are gone.
But at least I'm back at AULRO again!
Cheers and thanks again for all your help!
Johannes

grab a program called hijackthis, it is free..
unpack it if compressed and place it in your my documents folder.
run it and tell it backup and to make and show a log
it displays a list of things that load or run at startup, look for the orbix daemon, tick the box beside it and click on fix problems.
then reboot....
