    ex gov computer

    bought ex government/corporate computer with 40 gig hd put in windows xp disc , all it says is invalid key insert disc blah blah .Any suggestions on how to get it to read the xp disc?

    Is it reading any disc in the drive, with many gov computers the CD drives are disabled in the Bios.

    If theres nothing on it you want run "Boot n nuke" and then start fresh.

    Just make sure there is definately nothing on it you want.

    Got an Ex-Gov Compaq Pentium, 10 years ago, booted up beautifully, C drive half full of Tax Office files. A quick repartition and install Linux, great little computer.

    It should just 'work" you may have to set the bios to boot only from CD or at least select cd as the first boot device.
