    Toshiba Bluetooth

I recently bought a Toshiba Tecra M2 lappy that has wifi and bluetooth built in, when i try to setup a new conection i get a message " bluetooth not ready". I have looked in device manager and i cant actually see a bluetooth adapter in the device list ? The manual is no help at all ?

I've a Tecra but a different model - Bluetooth comes up second on the device list (after batteries).

Some ship "Buetooth ready" - I made sure mine came bluetooth equipped - there was about $100 difference in price.

Check the description and your invoice again.

My only other thought is - have you checked to make sure it's powered up (if present)? - mine has an external power switch for the radios (wifi and BT).

Looking at the Toshiba site - It may not have Bluetooth...

    check here:

    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_outFrm.jsp'moid=555698&ct=DS&soid=638404&BV_ SessionID=@@@@1030159547.1168422000@@@@&BV_EngineI D=cccgaddjldhdhihcgfkceghdgngdgmm.0

The only M2 models there I can see mention Bluetooth - only say "Bluetooth Ready (Antenna Only)"

But they do offer Bluetooth drivers to download here:

So make of that what you want.... Must be a Toshiba thing

It fits inside (somewhere, don't ask me exactly where). Inc might be able to tell you... I think the idea is that they have only one image for the hard drive, so any options have software pre-loaded.

Easy fix would be just to buy a usb bluetooth dongle, they are quite cheap.

    Billionton make them.

I have a Dell 6400 and to turn my Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on it is done with the same button. However since I do not use Bluetooth I have turned it off in the bios to save battery power.

Maybe yours is the same and it has been switched off in the bios by the previous owner?
However as has been said, just because you have the software doesn't mean you have the hardware.
