You need to copy the iso in a special way

There are are heaps of iso burners on teh net - just go looking.. ... I suspect you may have just copied the iso file - not the same as creating an iso image.

    Good luck.

I run ubuntu on one of my PCs in a windows based network - beautiful - wish I could go the whole hog and ditch windowz all together but some of my software at work will only run on windowz.

Go here and use this exclusively for all ISO burning to disc.

    -------------------------------------------------
BURNISO is an easy to use ISO burning.
Open an ISO image and burn it to your burner.

Download BURNISO 0.3 - BURNISO - Open an ISO and burn it direct to your burner - Softpedia

Software (c) by Ghosthunter (oops, Hungarian site).

OK, if you read speak write Hungarian I suppose.

    --------------------------------------------------

Text above is the full read me file for this little application.
It is a gem. 227Kb, of "it works just right" programming.

Navigate to "other tools", close to the bottom of the page you will find BURNISO 0.3 .
Download the zip file, unzip it into a Utility directory (that is just a directory of your choice), and double click the application icon. It is a stand alone program. Doesn't need installing, just un-zipping.

It knows what your burner is and where, just browse to the ISO, and click burn.

    Maybe that will help.

I downloaded and burnt the iso image this arvo. And ran it from the live CD
Yes it feels and looks like vista, is less resource hungry.
But it is of the Fedora Distro and uses the Redhat RPM technology.
It installs Firefox by default and not thunderbird.
I found K3b but not k9copy. Compared to Kunbuntu/Ubuntu it's repositories are smaller. Where as Kubuntu is debian and .deb files appear easier to install , IMHO.

But that said for someone that wanted the eye candy of Vista, didn't want to pay for it and wanted a reliable o/s that wasn't resource hungry then this might fit the bill.
I'm going to burn a copy for a friend that wants to migrate to Linux from Windows, this might be the distro for him to start off and play with.
I don't really want to wipe my Kubuntu installation to install Vixta to give it a thorough work out. And I don't want to triple boot on my system

To boot a live cd you must go into your PC bios to set it to boot to CDROM as your 1st option.
as they by default boot form Floppy or Hard Drive first.
Then insert the CD, and rebbot your PC with the Cd in.
Then as your Pc boots up it will seek the 1st boot device ( Cdrom ) and boot into the Vixta Cd and run from it 'LIVE"

Any way, it seemed an interesting Distro. And I wanted to install it to try.
Then I see that it is a beta version for trial only and comment, in development and is still buggy. It states it is not a version to use as as a main operating system as it is in development.
I got all sorts of errors trying to install it, so it was placed in the too hard basket. But it runs fines as a Live CD.
As I'm using Linux Kubuntu I might install the compiz -fusion and it will give me 3D desktops and with KBFX I can change the menu and kickers to make it look like Vista anyway. But then why make linux look like windows any way,?

I have Ubuntu and Kubuntu that i use but i just cant get this to work at all, i thought the download didnt work properly so i dl'd it again but when i try to burn to a cd i get the same problem - and in my computer the disc appears blank. I'm only trying to boot from live cd for now cant get it to boot from the cd at all. I even copied it to my laptop and tried burning again with the same result - i think this is going into the too hard basket.

The download is an image file. So to burn it it must be burnt as an image. In Nero there is option in the top tool bar that says 'Burn Image' it is not in the usual menu choices.
Also the download is 705 Mb from memory, and Cds are usually not of that capacity. I did burn it and it went in overrun and managed to fit it on a normal CD.
