The XP Pro may have been up to date, but not for 3rd party devices and drivers. Windows update may even find this for you.

I'm sure somebody down your way must have XP SP2 on CD that you can borrow. Post it up as a question and see if there's a response.

I have it here on disc from my other computers BUT the toughbook doesn't have a cd rom drive, I have to buy an external to go on it so unless the sp2 info could possibly fit on a jump drive it will have to be downloaded

From memory its a maximum of about 250MB so should fit on a USB stick.

Put the CD in another system and see what size it is.

I've got an old 1GB memory stick, so if you get really stuck, I'll put SP2 (and SP3) on that and send it over. Let me know if you need it.

Meanwhile, unless you're using WPA2, you should still be OK on SP1 to sort your wireless issue out!

From the original post, it sounds as though you either have the encryption wrong, or are entering a different type of key to the one it expects. Can you do a screenshot of the wireless config & security pages in the dlink and post them?

ok i'll do that once service pack is in.......
and it is expecting a different key thats what i cant work out as my router is set for wpa......but its asking for wep or what ever it is called, like i said all my other computers dont have a problem with the key inclucing my itouch when i use that on the net.......

i will do the upgrade of the service pack then i will take all the screen shots you need if you give me a list.......this might not get soprted until after cooma as i'm pushing my luck for time now...
