Have a look at the Billion range of modems. They perform very well, paticularly with ADSL2 and the prices are very good. The 7000 series are good value.Avoid DLink and SMC. D-Link are feature poor and S - l- o- w. SMC have heat issues. I have been through 2 SMC routers, and although the metal case feels great, the internals can fry.
