Forget telstra, Go with the virgin wireless broadband! i have a 5G a month download limit (speed restriction once you go over this no charges) The net can be picked up in the same places as Telstra as they are owned by telstra so get same coverage and all of this for only $39 a month on a 24 month contract and the modem is free so its only $39 EVERY month!

    PS: Its very fast!

I got Optus prepaid for while I was away. For me it worked great. In fact better than at home here in Sydney. Very rarely dropped out and was pretty fast. I mainly used it down near Wilsons Promontory in Vic.

What I don't like about it is the 1 month expiry on the prepaid credit. I think there's a more expensive amount that lasts 2 months. Also the SIM expires if you let it go for more than 3 months without adding credit. I'll keep my eyes open for better deals.

Virgin Broadband uses the fast-growing Optus 3G mobile network powered by HSDPA to deliver wireless internet to major metro areas across Australia. If you live in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, the Gold Coast or the Sunshine Coast there’s a good chance we’ve got you covered. Before buying Broadband At Home you should definitely check to see you have coverage at your home address.

    And

Your Virgin Mobile service is run by sophisticated technology linked to the Optus Network.
Our GSM coverage reaches 96% of the Oz population. Our 3G coverage is 83% of the population and growing.

So it's no-where near the coverage of Telstra.

I believe Telstra do not let anyone else hire and use NextG.
On Optus even if you have all mobile calls on the $99 plan, they still charge for Next g calls.

I use the Telstra wireless broadband for work. It's not prepaid but is quite good. I would hate to think how much it costs as loggin into work takes 5-10 mins.
