    pop ups

    i am having an issue with new windows opening by themselves, generally to carp pages of xxx and/or advertisments.
    just changed to wireless on desktop and also avg antivirus.
    question is how can the pop up windows be stopped as they give the irts!

    A couple of ways:
    1. Download the Google toolbar
    2. Use Firefox or Safari

    Run a spyware checker such as Adaware, Spybot, or PrevX.

    Download Firefox and install the Adblock plus addon/extension.

    Crazy Browser has a popup blocker. Sits on top of IE quite nicely.

    thanks all, will try some of these options when i get home.
    its not actual popups appearing but new ie windows directed to ads which is annoying when just reading the original web page.
