    Exclamation another crashed Computer,,,

    where to start,,
basically a bsod (first one for over12 months) and then after reboot no post/bios screen.
had to find a speaker and I get one medium beep,(yes I know but this is the first time ROME has beeped at me during a post, so how long is long?)
pc runs for around 10 secs then reboots,,
CPU and GPU fans both start,
have replaced and restructured then removed my ram,
    have removed the sound card,
    have removed the vid card,
    have disconnected HDD,
(sound first, then ram, then vid and HDD)

none of this makes any difference,,

have been trying to get voltages from MB and CPU power leads,,
BUT-- should I have power if the PSU is switched on, but the PC is off?

I don't think the PSU will give power until the Computer start button signals it to do so.

You need to monitor the power as it is switched on.

I am afraid that it sounds to me like a motherboard problem of some kind!

Mine was 3 months past it warranty and it died

But now I have a nice new EeePC.......terrific, transportable and cheap to replace

one beep is power is ok, a Continuous beep is is a power/bord / keybord problem.

so i doint think that swaping out cards is the way to go. is there any codes displaying just before it reboots? have you tryed booting from CD and changing the bios to read cd first ?

yeah, when my mother was boarding it was real problems she kept on crashing everywhere, but then she had her reasons.

Are the CPU, etc. fans working?

Have you tried resetting the bios to default?

Do you have another power supply to substitute?

Can't think of anything else now, tired from all that thinking.

Fans start, POST reports 1 beep then PC continues the boot process for ~ 10 secs before shutdown.

Is that what is happening because I am a bit confused about what it is you are saying.

Anyway, assuming the above is what is happening I'd say your power supply is catus.

Have you upgraded anything recently say in the last 8 weeks or so, a new graphics card, additional hard drive? In some cases a marginal PSU will drive the new gear for a while but the additional load over and above its capacity to deliver will cause accelerated failure.

The fact that you are passing POST seems to suggest there is nothing basically wrong until the PSU is asked to ramp up the power.
