    A couple of Disco questions

Hello folks, I've been looking at TDI's and TD5's in the $5K-$15K price range.

Ritters in melbourne want to charge $260 for a pre purchase inspection report - is this a fair price for the amount of time spent checking the car?

Do the disco's use 'standard' diesel oil that I can buy at the likes of repco or do I have have to buy specific oil - same for the oli filters.

I looked at a 2001 TD5 and noticed that the rear skylight windows were sealed differently from the earlier TDI's, do these ones still rust around the windows.

    Appreciate your advice. Cheers Wal.

I would pay the $260 if i was buying a TD5 as its one engine you dont want to 2nd guess, tdi as long as its got some sort of service history with at least the belt change date then there isnt much too them. Havent seen a D2 with alpine window rust so maybe LR got that one right. Oil for the TDI is standard 15-40 off the shelf diesel oil.

The D1 skylights are fitted with a conventional rubber seal. This traps water & causes the rust.
The D2 has the glass bonded to the body so no water can sit there (in theory).
