    1995 D1 300Tdi Serpetine Belt

    Hello

Ended up changing my Serp Belt as the last one was not placed properly on one of the pulleys and she ripped in shreds. Now i have got another 2 one as a spare and there part numbers are ERR3287 which is the 1595mm one. Now i know there is another one which is ERR 5911 which is 1580mm. Now looking up the stat's i'm meant to have the ERR 3287 1595mm as its from vin numbers MA501 but my vin is MA500. am i meant to have the shorter one as these two i have are both sqealing like bigs when i start the rig but after a while go away once op temp is reached. Belt tensioner is good as too are all the pulleys. Like said before once i changed the belt over it started sqealing. WHEN I WENT TO GET MY NEW BELTS THE BLOKE HAD TROUBLE FINDING ME ONE AS THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY VIN HE COUDLNT WORK OUT.

Dont know what belt i had before these new ones but i noticed it not having a shiney side any differeance???

    My Vin - SALLJGMF3MA500144

    Hi Matey,
Don’t know about vin#s or which belt sizes suit... but squealing belts I’ve had before... especially when fitting new belts. What happens is as your old belt wears and belt grit and road grime get packed into the grooves of the pulleys so tight that it goes hard and glassy. When you fit a new belt it won’t seat properly and squeals like crazy. The best solution is to remove the pulleys and with the pointed tip of an old knife scratch out the glassy grit (tedious) in the bottom of the grooves. Then give it a good wire brushing with a wire wheel in a bench grinder or drill. No more squealing!!!

    G'day Les

Really apreciate your Info mate. I have noticed ALOT of black grim stuck in between the little grooves of the pulley. As soon as i get some time i will take them off and give them a good clean.
