Thread: Anyone have aPic of the altinator pulley with the belt on for 300Tdi Disco??

    Anyone have aPic of the altinator pulley with the belt on for 300Tdi Disco??

    Just need to see a pic of someones altinators pulley with the belt on or off and i think the bloke who put my new alt on changed the pulley. it just seems to small and it straight away caught my eye when i noticed it so just want to comfirm.

    There are two size pulleys, depends whether it's an "early" or "late" 300 Tdi.
    I just went through this with my defender 300 Tdi - I got the larger pulley on the new alternator, but the belt still fits properly and the tensioner is doing its thing. The larger pulley needs a longer serpentine belt.

    I'm told that it either fits or it doesn't.

    thanks for that mate. Too me the pulley i have on it just seems too small as the belt is riding very close to the edge of the pulley. So i'm not sure what pulley this bloke put on when he changed my alt, he said he had to use my original one but i dont know cause as soon as i got that done a few days later my belt started to shed then replaced it and now a massive sqeal is happening.

    mine started that it was the tentioner was stuffed my mechanic picked it up if you need a pic let me know i have a 300tdi alternator sitting hear but it'll have to be tonight

    Simon, its a bit of an ask to make a 7 rib belt operate on a SIX RIB pulley!!! Count the grooves, seems he has fitted the wrong pulley, like you suspect

    Is that an original 300Tdi alternator??? It looks like my old 200Tdi one. My 300Tdi one hasn't got the external fan like that - it's like the "modern" looking alternators...

    Yes, its a 300Tdi Defender one, 65 amp only whereas the Disco one is 100Amp.

    JC - Thanks mate will do that right now. thought it looked funny when i first saw it.


    B92 8NW - Had to change the Alt so no its not the original one. He got it from Lucas though and i have seen the book he has with all the different Alts in there and this was under Lucas for the LR's.
