    3.9 just isnt enough

i have a 96 disco with a 3.9 v8 with an auto. im finding that the 3.9 hasnt enough go in it. and it just seems to have to rev to get going. im just wondering if any one knows what v8's are interchangable and how much stuffing about is involved? thinking around the 5 litre mark.

there are fairly cheap supercharger kits going,, and put a 4.6 crank in it and it makes it close to 5L if i remember rite

between 5.5k and 6k drive in drive out to get the range rover 4.6. I just had it done with a higher torque cam fitted to it and the difference is nothing short of outstanding. It is the fastest cheapest swap because all the outside bits bolt straight on to the 4.6 from the 3.9

and if that aint enough then the jag supercharger will bolt straight on

It's funny I just spent $10.5k on mine which if I sold I might get 5k for

But I didn't do that to sell it.

check out ebay, one went on there last week for 2.8k

The block is the same basically so as far as I am aware it would also fit the 3.9 and so long as your motor is tight and in good nick it should cope with the puffer so long as you dont go over board on boost, if I end up doing it (which I will if i can convince my SWMBO that it is necessary) I will go about 2psi boost

If you stick a cast iron boat anchor in there you will need to modify the suspension, the LR V8 is even lighter than the old LR 2.25 4 cyl petrol and then you will also have to upgrade diffs and axles, why not rebuild your tired motor and maybe a Haltech chip, Regards Frank.

IIRC a 4.6 crank won't go into a 3.9 anyway. Wrong bearing journal sizes...

This is another reason why I went the rangie 4.6 same weight and also the ZF auto and drive train can handle the extra power
